About the Film

Headlining UWM’s film programming for National Latine Heritage Month, The Motorcycle Diaries follows the journey of two young Argentine medical graduates as they travel across South America and encounter the lives and communities of people throughout the continent.

Based on the travel writings of Ernesto “Che” Guevara, the film portrays a journey that profoundly shapes his understanding of Latin America, inequality, medicine, and society.

The film won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and received international recognition, including honors from the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).
